Major props to the people that do them every week!

How far along? 32 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 20+/-
Maternity clothes? Yes.
Stretch marks? ::knock on wood:: still looking good

Have you told family and friends: Yes
Miss Anything?  Sitting comfortably
Movement: Yes! All over the place. Felt the hiccups the other day.
Food cravings: Nothing major.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope

Have you started to show yet: Yes! I feel gi-normous!
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In, but it's basically flat. Josh said it looked like a butt-hole.
Wedding rings on or off? On, but they are much much harder to get off
Happy or Moody most of the time: Still moody most of the time, but happier because there is light at the end of the tunnel
Looking forward to: The next few OB appointments, we may be talking induction dates!

Our baby shower was amazing! We had such a great time and can't thank everyone that came out to celebrate. We are overwhelmingly grateful for everyone's generosity and the great gifts we received. The nursery has really started to come together. Can't wait to have the nursery tour reveal soon.

28 Weeks

How far along? 28 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 17-ish
Maternity clothes? I have finally broke out and wear the maternity jeans on a daily basis (however the shorts in this pic are not maternity) Tanks still under my work polos, and almost any other shirt I wear, maternity or not.
Stretch marks? I don't think so. Still using Palmer's coco butter. I do however feel the skin on my stomach "stretching" more if that makes sense.
Sleep: SOOOO tired in the afternoons.
Best moment this week: Finally got carpet in the bedrooms so my nesting instinct can finally kick in and get the nursery put together. Also: This was a few weeks ago, I had to go for a fetal
echocardiogram (all diabetic patients go) and the Dr there said little L's heart is text book perfect! She even said I wouldn't need to go back for the follow up in the end weeks. Another good moment: my delivery Dr and I seem to be on the same page, they basically won't let me go past 40 weeks! If everything is normal and good and I want to be/ask to be I could be induced at 39 weeks! YAY!
Have you told family and friends: Yes
Miss Anything?  Still beer and/or alcohol
Movement: Yes! All over the place. Especially while I'm sitting at work. Josh has felt s/he move on a few occasions, but the little shit seems to know when he's there waiting and of course stops.
Food cravings: Nothing major, other than a nice cold beer!!!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope

Have you started to show yet: Yes! I feel gi-normous! In the beginning I couldn't wait for a bigger "bump", now, I so don't want one!
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In, but I can feel it getting "flatter"
Wedding rings on or off? On, but they are much much harder to get off
Happy or Moody most of the time: Moody, but getting a little happier, because there is light at then end of the tunnel.
Looking forward to: Getting the nursery set up finally! I have it all planned in my head, just need to put it all together.

Also: A friend tagged me in this post on Facebook. It was the most truthful thing I have read to date! My favorite part was #2 "there may not be a sudden gush of 'love'". I feel this may be the same thing as finding and picking my wedding dress. I did not have the overflow of emotions and tears when I found my dress. I did not cry and jump around happily and giggle when I found out I was pregnant. Like I've  said before, not that I didn't want this, and I will love the end result. It was so nice and reassuring that if  I don't have an overwhelming love and crying session when baby L gets here, I won't feel like a monster. I won't feel like I've failed. It would be a normal response, maybe not the majority, but still normal.

Crock Pot: White Chicken Chili

This was an amazing easy recipe, and perfect for the rainy crappy weather we have been having. I adapted this recipe from a blog I follow: a mom and her twin little girls, and she understands the need to make quick and yummy recipes!

Crock Pot White Chicken Chili

3 (15oz) cans white northern beans (drained and rinsed)
1 (15oz) can garbanzo beans (drained and rinsed)
1 lb chicken (fresh or frozen)
2 (4oz) cans mild green diced chilies
1 (15oz) can chicken stock
2-3 teaspoons cumin
1 teaspoon chili flakes
1 packet dry ranch seasoning
3-4 cloves garlic minced

Throw all in crock pot, stir, cook on low for 7-8 hours. Come home, stir and shred chicken. Serve with sour cream, cheese and/or avocado.

Side note: Make sure the crock pot is plugged IN before leaving the house!!! This was my pregnancy brain forgetful day.
Thankfully I have an amazing husband who came back home (on bicycle) to plug it in.

My adaptations: I like a variety of beans, you can probably even use white kidney beans or cannellini beans. I used only 2 teaspoons of the ranch packet, but I figured next time I will dump the whole packet in. I also added the chicken stock. If you are like me and buy the giant stock cartons when they are BOGO just fill an empty bean can with stock and dump in. I eyeballed it this time, because I only had a little left in the carton and dumped it all in.

Pregnant Woman Thought Ramblings

I know I have long missed my 24 week update. Hopefully you will get 2 in a row coming up.

I just wanted to take a minute and jot down some things that have been swirling around in my head.
I have had a relatively easy pregnancy, I am very grateful for that. However that being said: I do NOT enjoy being pregnant! I am so NOT glowing and I am not loving this "growing a human being" time period. At this point, little L may be an only child. I had always thought I'd have 3-5 kids! I wanted kids. I would also like the have opposite gender siblings. We will see how the next 4 months go, and how labor/delivery go, how newborndom goes. Maybe I'll have rose colored glasses on by the end of it, and think about another one down the road. I understand newborndom is hard, but I am so ready for it. I am 25 weeks and already at the point of "get this thing out of me!!" 1 day past my official due date my butt is marching in there and getting induced, little L is NOT going to sit in there and stew and get larger and larger!
I think it's a combination not only of the delicate process that is growing a human child, but also the diabetes factor. The huge major added stress of keeping that under control! My body is going though a lot of changes and the handle on diabetes is getting more stressful and cumbersome. I become insulin resistant as the placenta grows, which that takes more of the insulin than my body, so that causes higher blood sugars. 4 weeks ago if I ate a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast I would give 4.0 units of insulin, now for that same bowl of oatmeal I am up to 7.0 or 8.0 units, depending on what my blood is before eating.
The insulin resistance is a "good" thing in theory, because that means there is a healthy placenta. If we start going the other way, less insulin and lower sugars, that means the placenta is breaking down.
Also not enjoying my high risk OB. I unfortunately did not have the luxury of interviewing and finding a high risk OB I liked. My old OB, was less than useless in helping with a referral. I had to go with basically who I found. And FYI there are not a lot of options for high risk in south FL.
He has unrealistic expectations about where my bloods should be kept (ie: between 120-140). He talked about putting my on shots last time I was there. Um.... NO! H-E-double hockey sticks NO! I have a great relationship with my endo, we will figure out to do on HIS end.
I am not the type of pregnant mom who is over the moon, and gushing and touching, and poking and prodding my belly. Any Dr appointments with the ultrasound I am more just staring at the screen watching what they are doing. I am not all smiles and giggle and "ohhh's" and "ahhhh's". I am grateful little L is moving and jiving in there, I am grateful when I hear the heartbeat, but that's it.
Josh has finally felt it move and he has been ecstatic ever since.

I am uncomfortable, my clothes don't fit (obviously). I have finally broken out the maternity jeans, which are not as bad as I originally thought, still not the biggest fan. I can't do anything/not allowed to do anything. Mom and Josh won't let me ride my bike. Mom won't let me pick up and carry a bag of potatoes. I can't climb on a ladder or chair, I can't pick up Whiskey (I do, too bad!!!). I get starving, eat 2 bits and I'm full and uncomfortable.

I am very glad and thankful I have some friends who have done this before me. I can confide in them and ask those weird silly questions and don't get judged!

I am also in complete and utter denial about Whiskey and our kitten Mackie, they are my babies. I know that when L comes, they will just be a dog and a cat, they will be second class citizens, but I can not wrap my head around that. I am going kicking and screaming that will happen. I will not get rid of them, I will not stick them outside, I will not! They are as much as part of the family as little L will be.

I will over the moon once little L is here and we are both healthy and safe, until then I will continue to worry and be stressed and not enjoy being pregnant. Just counting down the days until February.

22 Weeks

Whiskey photobomb

How far along? 22 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 13-ish pounds (I would assume)
Maternity clothes? I wear the shirts and tanks. No pants yet. Old Navy also had a sale on baby and maternity clothes. I got a few more cute tops
Stretch marks? Not yet, I did finally buy Palmer's Coco Butter and try to use it once a night. Side note: I'm not a fan of the smell or the feel of it, but to be fair, I don't really like the feel of lotion anyways. I always "wipe my hands clean" after putting some on.
Sleep: Tired in the afternoons, but kind of feel a little more like myself
Best moment this week: Got some cute baby clothes from the Old Navy sale, and it's all gender neutral.
Have you told family and friends: Yes
Miss Anything?  A beer, and getting our Halloween costumes ready (I had them picked out for this year, but it doesn't work with a belly. I'll have to bookmark them for later years)
Movement: I still think so, I can notice them more while sitting at work, but still have to focus for the most part.
Food cravings: Been sweet stuff lately, like rice krispie treats, oreos, pumpkin anything, monkey bread
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not anymore

Have you started to show yet: A little "bump". Had the first stranger mention something today, (AFTER Josh said we were expecting) but she was nice and didn't want to say anything before to offend me, but she thought so. Guessed the month right on the head too; 5-6 months.
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In, but I can feel it getting "flatter"
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Moody and cranky
Looking forward to: Gathering stuff for the nursery! I have picked up a few small things

**The side not on the bottom of the chalkboard says "Maybe not as big as gramps grows them" He grow newborn size papayas. Also My mom will be called "Grammie", she's been Grammie to Whiskey since we got her. My dad we haven't figured it out yet, mom and Josh like "Grumps". At this point it'll be whatever Little Bit calls him.

Today we had a very nice visit with my cousin Micheal, his wife, Nicole and their 2 boys, Brayden and Drew. Can't wait to see them again and more family in November for Thanksgiving!
I also made monkey bread to take over with us for lunch. It was very tasty and simple to make. YUM!

Chicken Taco Chili

I follow a variety of other blogs, one is a momma to adorable twin girls, but she also shares a lot of awesome recipes.
With fall right around the corner she posted a crock pot recipe. I was ALL over this one! Not to mention it would go nicely with the avocados from our tree.
She calls it a soup. I would call it more like a chili/soup/stew. But whatever you want to classify it as it is DELICIOUS!

bowl Pottery Barn-Emma collection

Crock Pot Chicken Taco Chili - from/adapted 3 Ladies and their Gent

1 LB boneless skinless chicken
1 (15oz) can black beans, drained and rinsed
1 (15oz) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
1 (15oz) can cannellini beans, drained and rinsed
1 (15oz) can corn, drained and rinsed
2 (15oz) can diced tomatoes (this I had 1 Italian variety on hand, the other was plain)
1 (10oz) can RoTel (again you can get creative with the variety)
1 (15oz) can chicken broth
1 packet dry ranch salad seasoning mix
1 packet taco seasoning
Toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, avocado (all optional, but HIGHLY recommended)

1. Throw EVERYTHING in the crock pot and cook on low for 8 hours. When you get home take folks or tongs to shred the chicken.

2. Serve and enjoy with accouterments from above

SO SO SO Good! It will be on the regular menu rotation from now on.
I threw my chicken breast in there from the freezer and it was perfect.  Like I noted with the diced tomatoes, there are a lot of varieties out there with flavor on these, so get creative. Also the ranch seasoning packet had a "spicy" version I may try next time. Same with the beans, throw any of our 3 favorite together, she has originally done pinto beans, I swapped them out.

20 Weeks

Black is a slimming color right? This picture is also about 21 weeks

How far along? 20 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 13 pounds
Maternity clothes? I bought them, but haven't worn most of them yet. The tank in the pic is maternity, I now wear it under my work polos, because they ride up way too short!
Stretch marks? Not yet, and I NEED to get some stretch cream, but luckily nothing yet (and I know I just jinxed myself)
Sleep: Still super tired in the afternoon after lunch, going to bed early
Best moment this week: Finding a corgi stuffed pillow for Baby room!!
Have you told family and friends: Yes
Miss Anything?  Nothing in particular, saw sushi in a flyer, and it looked good, but I'm ok not having it.
Movement: I think so...maybe...possibly. I know it's a wiggly little stinker because it wouldn't sit still for the last ultrasound appt. I think I finally feel those little "flutters". They feel more like little lower stomach twitches/spasms. And I have to be totally paying attention to notice, and not breathing, and not moving.
Food cravings: Nothing major
Anything making you queasy or sick: Not anymore

Have you started to show yet: A little "bump"
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Moody and cranky
Looking forward to: Finishing the house painting and start gathering stuff for the nursery!

I actually had the chalkboard done at 20 weeks, it was trying to pin down my husband to take the picture. He's been working odd days part-time back at the arena.

Old Wives Tales

Since we are not divulging the sex of the baby I thought it would be fun to check out some old wives tales to predict it:

It's pretty evenly split. Which with most "predictions" its always 50-50. The 2 top ones with the * Please check out these links to understand them.
Chinese Calendar
Even/Odd is also known as Month of Conception + Age of mother (at conception)= 32
**IF you must know the 2 "answers" are May and 27

This was just for fun, this just goes to prove that any predictions is 50-50. Its gotta be one or the other in the end. We are happy with either one, and are just glad everything seems to be moving right on track and both myself and baby are healthy.

Doctor Update

I had an appointment with my endocrinologist this last week. For the last 10+ years I have seen him, I have given up on controlling my blood sugars and doing everything "right" For many of those years I'd bring my meter, which was useless, because there was nothing on it for them to download. We had to take some extreme measures to keep things under some sort of control. My A1C  (<- Please click the link to learn what an A1C is) use to be in the high 8's and possibly a 9 in there at one point. (to sum that up... NOT good!!) While we were planning the wedding, Josh and I obviously knew we wanted to start a family, I had to do a lot of work on my end to make sure everything could be as good as possible. I asked my Dr what I needed to do to prepare for this next step. He said, DO YOUR BLOODS, and keep them low the lower the better.
Ok. Step 1 was handed out to me on a silver platter, I just had to do what I knew what was right. I tried my best to get on a schedule of some sorts and do my bloods. I was doing pretty good with them, especially during the week, when I had some normality to my time frames and food. My appointment back with him was better, my A1C came down to the mid 7's. This is right before we left for our honeymoon.
Coming back from our honeymoon I had to call him to say "I believe I'm pregnant". I had blood paper to go take care of before my appointment with him got moved up from its original date. I got to the office and was sitting in the room waiting for him to come in. He's a very boisterous talker and I could hear him a few rooms away with someone else. He busted into my room to grab an instrument that he needed, while doing so he starts laughing at me then says "You really can behave when you want to".
Yes, that's true, I know how to take care of myself, I just didn't want to deal with it anymore. I had to deal with it and apparently was doing a decent job.Little did I know how well of a job.
He finally came in to see me and my A1C was 6.3. Pretty darn great! I was so excited! I was also having some MAJOR low blood sugars in the late afternoon that needed to be fixed.
Thankfully Josh has finally learned the signs of a low blood sugar from me. To sum it up, I act like a needy 5-year old and I speak verrrrrrry slowly.
We adjusted my basal rate quite dramatically, I was honestly worried we were going to make it rebound the other way around and I would shoot up high in mid-afternoon. I kept a close eye on that time of day and kept everything tightly knit.
Flash forward to my appointment a few weeks ago. I knew I was doing good with my bloods, still had a few low sugars,  but nothing quite dramatic. He walked in and again started laughing at me. My A1C was 5.7!!!!! Seriously?!?!?! That was awesome, that was the bomb-diggity! He was so pleased and stated that I brought down my A1C using LESS insulin! He was shocked by that. He also said that I'm controlling my bloods better than most diabetic (and pregnant diabetics) on a continuous glucose monitor. (Side note: I have a CGM but it's "old" and the sites for it have been discontinued, we tried to get a new one but $$$$ later, I decided to go at it on my own-which apparently is working).
We adjusted my basal rate again because there are still some issues in the mid afternoon time frame. If you look at my blood meter download that he gets (its a graph) from 7AM-12PM my bloods stay in a steady line, once 3PM rolls around it starts spiking and/or dropping then will plateau back out around bedtime 9PM.
I have another appointment in 6 weeks. I'm hoping to keep up all the good work I've done. So far my bloods have been behaving and I just need to stay on this path.

**If this is mumbo-jumbo to you, I apologize. This particular post is more for any curious people, and for me to document.

Home: Shelf Project

While looking at houses I kept eyeballing the walls in the living room area to see if I could put my picture photo wall on it.

This house, our HOME, has a circular kitchen and beautiful large wall!!! We are still working on finishing the bedrooms, but enough was enough and I wanted my photo wall and to start unpacking.

A few weekends ago Mom came over and helped paint the trim and baseboards, while Josh worked on patching the crown molding and finish hanging the doors. I had my shelf project!

Ikea and Pottery Barn sell shelves similar to what I made, but in short lengths and very pricey for a 2 foot piece! I needed/wanted 8-6 foot pieces. The wall measured 8 feet long, so 6 foot shelves it was!

We went to Lowe's and I got 6 foot 1X4 pieces of wood, 2 per each shelf. We also got 1" square rods (that came in 3ft lengths) so 2 per shelf again.
I have 3 shelves total.

The wall (ignore all the patched holes and dirty wall, we haven't painted these rooms yet)

They are hung!!! My mom and Josh put these up with my directions.
They are 18 inches apart

Side View

Loaded up!

I posted the above picture on my Instagram and Facebok page and everyone LOVES them.. So do I!!!! You have any idea how many times I've rearranged the damn wall though??? I keep finding new pictures to add and more I want to add, but clearly I am out of room! I need these on every wall in the house I think!!
I have made the decision (haven't told Josh yet- he may kill me) to add some more 2 foot length to the wall at the end of the hallway, with a shorter distance between them.
I'm also going to make a "variety" of the same shelf for Baby L's room, for it's books. Baby already has quiet the collection.

Big News

We are expecting a little trouble-maker February 2015. We brought back the ultimate honeymoon souvenir. Things finally clicked that I may be when "aunt flow" didn't show up. I stopped by Walgreen's on my way home one Friday and took the test. Those 2 little lines couldn't have shown up any quicker. I took a picture of the test and tried to figure out my next move. I saw Josh's phone on the charger, I quickly sent him the picture and changed his phone background to that, put it back on the charger, went back out to the living room and waited. A while later he got up to check something and all I hear from the bedroom is "babe.....??? babe....???" I'm sitting on the sofa laughing my butt off.  We had our moment, but I wanted to be absolutely positive so I sent Josh to the store to get one of the digital read ones (aka: idiot proof). That one too came up positive. It looks like there was a baby on board. I was about 4-6 weeks when I took the test, went in for my first appointment at 9 weeks.  We have had our baby girl and boy names picked out FOREVER, they both begin with "L", so baby is being called "Baby L" for now. (IF you are one of the people that know the names we have picked out, PLEASE keep it to yourself and do NOT share.) We are also playing with the idea, of keeping the gender a secret. (Josh and I will know, but no one else)

We told my parents at 12 weeks, while their family friends were down for a quick visit. I wanted to do something fun and unique. The fact that Mother's Day, Father's Day, were gone, and their birthdays and Christmas were too far away, I felt screwed. I did a little research and came up with a few ideas. Here are some of them to help anyone else in the same boat:

1. Order personalized fortune cookies with the message, order Chinese food and swap the cookies
2. Get 2 white mugs, at the inside bottom of them write "grandma" & "grandpa" fill with coffee and wait...
3. Get a white place and write a cute message on it, fill with cookies, muffins, or cupcakes, or bread and serve.

Ideas 2 & 3 include the DIY project of a white porcelain/ceramic dish being drawn on with Sharpie and oven baked to "cure" it. For instructions see this post from a fellow blogger. We opted for idea 3.

This was my plate design, I loaded it up with red velvet cake slices and waited. We all went to dinner that night (which may have been a mistake, because we all ate too much to eat dessert), and when we got back to the house watched some of dad's old dead tree slides. Mom, Josh and I were the only ones to eat cake. Josh had 3 slices, and still barely 1/2 the plate was seen. Mom saw some sort of writing but didn't connect the dots. Josh got a glad container and put the remainder in that to reveal the plate. Mom still didn't get it. "Was this someone else's plate? Why are you using someone else's plate?"
"Why would I be announcing someone else?" was my response.
Then the dots started to connect... "You're pregnant?"
Dad and his buddy Mac were in the TV room so Josh took the plate in there to show them. Mac got it first.
Finally the shock wore off, I got a text message from mom the next morning saying "I'm over the shock, when can we go shopping?"

Dining Table DIY: To paint or not to paint

We are slowly working on the house. I am done with all the "fix-ups" I'm ready to decorate!! I was painting the spare bath, when I got (not even) half way through, found Josh, handed him the brush and said "I'm done".
We have the corner bedroom painted and basically done, just need to hang the new bedroom door. The spare bath is done. The guest room is 1/2 done. The master bedroom is primed, the bath is still as is.
Those are the updates. Now to what I've been getting yelled at for:
We got a nice 6-seater dining room table set from my dad's family friend. Its an old table from probably the 70's. Solid wood, scroll work on the drop "skirt" of it, and on the backs of the chairs. Its a great table, that need needs an update!
Josh has yelled at me to leave it alone, the wood grain makes a "star burst" pattern in the center of the table when its a circle (it also has a leaf to add to make it oval for more people).
My mom has yelled at me because I'm not listening to Josh about not painting it, and that his opinion counts.
We had our old apartment neighbors over for dinner over the weekend, I told them my plans and they yelled at me because the table is true "Americana work" and that I would ruin it.

Go ahead people keep yelling at me to NOT paint it, that just makes me want to paint it even more! It's old. I knew the lady that owned it. I needs an update. It doesn't go with our decor. It needs a simple update. I'm not painting it pink or anything. I want to paint the top of it white. Then the scroll pattern is being plastered over and sanded smooth, on the table "skirt" part it will be painted gold. The chairs, the top piece with the scroll will be painting white, then the bottom part under the "rods" will be gold, and the legs of the chair will be white and gold "dipped".
I'm not taking a saw to it! (not that I wouldn't like to). There is still plenty of the original wood being untouched.
I will let you know about the progress, this isn't something that is going to happen tomorrow. It's a planned project for the next few months.
We'll see if it grows on me during that time span (doubtful)

Honeymoon: Vancouver, Alaskan Cruise & Seattle

When Josh and I were discussing honeymoon, we wanted something different. We live 24/7 in sunny South Florida with a beach, so we didn't want something like Cancun, Bahamas, or Jamaica. We wanted something cold.
The 2 choices we came up with were an Alaskan cruise, or book a cabin in Colorado or somewhere up North. After talking about it we decided on the Alaskan cruise, once you factor the price into everything it included like the room and board and food 24/7 it was the best option. This was also something we've wanted to do ever since we took our first cruise to the Bahamas almost 6 years ago.
There were a lot of options when choosing this cruise. First of all Alaskan cruises don't start until May, which worked out good because April is the end of hockey season. The cruise we chose was the first Alaskan voyage for this ship. We left from Vancouver Canada, did the inner channel, then docked in Seattle. So not only did we get to see all the ports on the cruise, we also got to visit 2 different cities we probably wouldn't have otherwise.

Vancouver Canada:
Was amazing! I think this may have been Josh's favorite spot. It was an uber bike friendly town, and the hotel we stayed at gave us complementary bikes for 3 hours. We rode to Stanley Park, which is a must do in Vancouver. It was so beautiful and different than FL. The park was HUGE. It took us the whole 3 hours to just ride around it, and that was at a pretty steady pedaling pace (stopping a few times).

The start of our Stanley Park trial

Some nice other tourist took our picture and we took theirs

Totem poles were really big in the Northwest

Another view, this is about 1/2 through our ride

We rode along side these giant rock wall, there was a sign that said "beware of falling rocks"

Vancouver's "beach"

There was also a lot of large installation artwork pieces all over Stanley Park.

These looked like giant diamond rings to me, Josh said upside down dreidel

This was on the "beach" part, so if the tide came in I don't know how far it would come to this piece

These were slightly creepy, Josh thought they were cool

We only had 1 full day in Vancouver. I didn't realize that's how I booked until we had 5 days in Seattle. I think we made the best of Vancouver though. After our 3 hour bike ride we took a breather and then went to explore Granville Island, and more importantly, the brewery. You had to take a little ferry boat over to the island, or walk to and over a giant bridge. We opted for the ferry. The hotel gave us 2, 1-way commentary tickets for the ferry. The ride there we hopped on the wrong one, and just paid our way, the way back we found the correct ferry. Now we either forgot the camera or got so caught up we did take many pictures.

At Granville Island Brewery

My 3 tasting choices. We so wanted to bring 1 of them home as a bottle, but I wasn't sure how the cruise boat did that, so we left empty handed.

While on the island, we also visited a little mobile pet shop that had mostly hand crafted items. We got the cats a little felt cap nip ball and a welsh corgi x-ing sign! We also stopped at an ice cream shop and talked hockey with the girl there, because she saw my FL Panther phone case and was upset that we now had Luongo. I told her they can have him back, I just want Garrison (who was traded from FL to Vancouver 2 years ago). Their ice cream was so good!! We shared a coffee ice cream cone. While walking back to the ferry we watched in a window some glass blowing, it's completely mesmerizing! Later that night we went to dinner at a place who's name escapes me now, but it was really good!
That was it for Vancouver. We packed up our bags and sat on the sidewalk for a cab to take us to the port to get on the boat!

I forgot how bad the cruise boarding process was, it was almost worse than the airport. Finally we got on board threw our bag in the room and went for lunch.

Leaving the port

The water planes cracked me up. I loved them

Sailing away, we have sail off drinks of bloody Mary (for him) and mimosa (for me)

The other side of Stanley Park

The only cruise photo we purchased. This was the sailing party in Vancouver.

Day 1 and 2 were sailing days. I don't usually get sea sick, but that boat sure was rocking. The first night's dinner I didn't really get to enjoy because of that. I think I was also so overwhelmed by everything going on, and I was still adjusting to the time difference.

First stop was Juneau:
We got into port kind of late 11am (local time). We didn't really have anything planned for the first 2 ports. (we had an excursion in Ketchikan).

On the way into port. Some home along the water

Downtown Juneau

So we just wandered aimlessly, which was very nice. Josh of course found that Juneau had a brewery! So we asked around how to get to it and a local told us they had a shop in the downtown area and they may have a shuttle going to the brewery. We walked over to the shop, which was amazing and found a van driver who takes groups to and from the brewery for a little tour. He was just about our the door when we caught up to him, so we made it just in time.
The Juneau Alaskan Brewery. We had all 4 of those beer listed plus 3 more. They were really great and flavorful.

While in Granville Island we decided to start our own collection of 6 oz taster glasses. So we picked one up in Granville and now the Alaskan brewing company. Also at the Alaskan brewing company we picked up a bottle of beer for my dad.

After the brewery we needed some food, we got a tip from the van driver to check out Rockwell. It was a great tip, the place has amazing food and it was very low key.

While we were heading back to the ship we stopped at one of the "cruise boat owned shops" and picked a little something to commemorate our honeymoon:

Josh got me a little cruise boat charm to add to my wedding day Pandora bracelet

We got back to the boat ship and were on our way to Skagway. Skagway is a bit of a wild west looking town. They had a tour (that one of our dinner table-mates went on) of the brothels and red light district. We were going to see a can-can girl show, but it was very cold and rainy! By the time we were done wandering the town, we were done with Skagway and the wetness.

This was the port we docked in. The rock wall had all sorts of the ships' flags and that neat skull

Our ship

We found a neat little ski-chair. Josh relaxing

The little town, That Red Onion Saloon was one of the brothels.

Shocker!! Again we found a "brewery" however it was just the pub/bar. We got there around 10:30, they served beer, but didnt start food until 11.

Another flight of beers. They were potent!

Here's a rainy day selfie, before heading back to the boat for coffee and hot chocolate

The next day we had a cruising day, but we went to the fjords in the early morning. It was an amazing experience and the fact that we had a balcony room was so worth it!

All of these photos are courtesy to Josh. I was still not awake and bundled up on the balcony. We started journeying into the Fjords around 3am, and were getting close to the glacier at 7am.

The Captain off the Rhapsody got us so close to the glacier, and did a few 360's so everyone on the ship, no matter where you were, could see it

The rest of the day we relaxed in the room, we didnt want to move or go anywhere. We got hooked on the shows "Castle" and "Bones". They ship was in open water and you could really feel it move. At one point I looked out the sliding door and you could see the horizon moving up and down. While showing Josh my "findings", he freaks out and nearly throws me off the bed, scrambling for the camera. I'm at a loss. finally he gets out on the balcony and points out a pod of whales! I squealed and shouted "OH look orcas!!!" and with that a few of our cabin neighbors came out to check them out too.
Josh got some amazing pictures!

aka Killer Whales

Our last stop was Ketchikan. This stop we scheduled an excursion. We decided on the "hike and zip line adventure". We got on a bus, went up a winding narrow road continually on a 45 degree angle. We got dropped off at a mini park entrance and got on these different buses and made our way further up, these buses were almost at 90 degrees. Finally we get off at the top of the zip line post. We watch a quick video and get into our gear. We were off. We did a practice run on a little 20 foot line. Once you were on the other platform no turning back! At 1 point we were almost 300 feet up on a tree from the ground, and the longest zip line was around 300 feet, propelling you up to 30mph! We had 7 zip lines and 3 rope bridges.
Our view at one of the platforms

Josh was in charge of the camera, it was literally strapped to his harness

Scared outta my mind, just saying! (This is however the last picture from this because we forgot to swap the batteries and this one died!)

The group photo taken at the end of the adventure. The guys in yellow were our guides. We are at the back.

At the end of the tour we got some hot chocolate and cookies at the gift shop. We also got zip line medals, because the other group that took a different route, lost 3 people along the way from nerves.

We went back to the ship after this changed clothes, got the other battery and headed back out!

We wandered around and took in the sites, and picked up a few things at the shops. We got back on the ship for our last full cruising day before disembarking in Seattle.
We took quite a few pictures with the ship's photographers, but something about their lighting or the flash just did not make them flattering!
The last night on the boat, I found a crew member to take a picture on my phone

We had an early morning wake up call to disembark and a long line wait for a cab to get to our hotel in Seattle. Finally we got there and got upgraded to a top floor mini suite! It was awesome!
The first thing we wanted was junk food. Taco Bell or McDonald's! After all the heavy and rich ship food we just needed something greasy! The cruise food was amazing don't get me wrong, but we were ready for something simpler.
While looking for a junk food place to eat, we stumbled across a mall. We thought "oh mall food!" They had traditional mall food, but nothing by the name I knew from FL. I just wanted something I knew the menu of.
But we weren't going to let this trip be wasted. We saw a Pandora store, and I was curious if they would have a Seattle Space Needle charm. They didn't but we got this one:
A little Seattle bead. It goes perfectly with my green bracelet already, next to the little cruise boat

We finally found a McDonald's and chowed down!! With food in our bellies we were ready to wander and check out the city. We walked around downtown and checked out some shops and menatally located a few places to visit again. That night we found an awesome place for dinner called Tap House.

Took a pre-dinner selfie

What obviously tipped Josh to this place was the 160 beers on tap

Their coasters, we asked our waiter if we could get a few extra to bring home.

Our next day, we went to Pike Place Market. We did some research in the little planner booklets they give you at the hotel and found a place that seemed to be good for breakfast. We also found a few shops that did wine and beer tasting and another brewery.

Pike Place Market
Pike Place & Pike Street

Inside part of the market

It was described as a legendary breakfast, and that it was. It was out facing the Ocean and Miner's Landing

We found all sorts of goodies while in Pike Place Market to bring home. We had to send 2 FedEx boxes home with all our stuff. There was so much more stuff at the market we wanted to get, but it was not doable. They had these amazing flower bunches for $10 and they smelled fantastic! We of course walked pass where they throw the fish.
This was a bridge walkway to a parking garage but behind us is a Ferris wheel and miner's landing (which we did not visit, we forgot!!)

After wandering the main part of the market we headed out towards the brewery, which is part of the market, but you enter though the street. We are a light lunch at the restaurant, and caught a 2pm brewery tour!
The decor was awesome! I wish I could have just walked around taking pictures of everything

They had beer plates on the wall, that I noticed from growing up in the living room at my parents house that dad collected

The beer flight. I wanted to take that paddle home so badly.

The brewery tour was awesome, but we forgot to ask if we could take pictures and didn't want to just start. It was during the weekend so there were no employees down there so the guide took us up close and personal with all the equipment and tanks.

We went back to the hotel to re-group and figure out a game plan. We also learned there was another brewery close by Pyramid brewing. We can get very few of there beers in FL and its few and far between. We had to check out a more extensive list.
It was about a mile away. We walked! We passed Century Like field and Safco field and the brewery was right across the street. Unknown to us there was a Seattle Mariner baseball game that night.
Football stadium

Baseball

Brewery

A very nice couple by us took a picture for us.We were both tired and excited!

We walked the 1 mile back to the hotel and crashed!
For Sunday we went to the Space Needle!
Such a great iconic landmark

The view from the top. 520 Feet up

Took the obligatorily tourist picture

Selfie atop the needle

We opted for a two-fer ticket. The space needle and a blown glass museum. So glad we did, because the art was amazing! Its a must have checkout if you visit Seattle.

There was also a Northwest folk festive in the same area. We had a lot of fun checking that place out. A lot of music and Seattle is a very dog friendly city. We finally saw 1 long haired fluff corgi!!!

After the afternoon down by the space needle we got an inside tip from our waiter from the Tap House to check out this place called The Pine Box. It was a converted funeral home into a bar, and is said to be haunted. The food was so good!!!

Josh picked up his shirt at a vendor at Pike Place Market. He basically bleaches a design into a black shirt.

Monday we decided to just chill at the hotel and get stuff together for our EARLY morning flight the next day. We went to game works down the street for dinner/happy hour 1/2 price apps and drinks. Score! On our way there was saw an exact replica of the Delorean from Back to the Future, unfortunately we weren't fast enough to get  picture, not to say we didn't try, Josh ran down the street trying to.

All the glasses we collected along our travels.

We had an amazing honeymoon! We definitely want to visit Vancouver and Seattle again. And want to venture to Anchorage, Alaska. Maybe for some anniversaries.
This is the last post of the "Our Wedding" installment. BUT not the blog. The blog will continue as a Newlyweds and Homeowners Adventure blog, so stick with it. After this post I am sending my blog off to a place that will turn it into a book. So I will have the memories of planning always at my finger tips!
