June Bride Box

I signed up for The Bride Box. I got a coupon discount via facebook. I have been looking into signing up for one when I saw the May box on facebook. I'm glad I did! I opted for the 6 month subscription. I am super excited to see what is in store for the next  5 months.They are a fairly new company, I think the May box was their very first. But I think this a great thing for any bride.
There are similar versions of "boxes" one is Birch Box, which is makeup and beauty products. (visit the small things blog to learn more about those.) I think it's great there is one veered mostly to brides. :)

While planning the wedding and making decisions on things you need or want its nice to get a little surprise once a month on things you would have never thought of! This box was filled with things I would have never gotten for myself, but they instantly put a smile on my face. I spoke with the creators of the box, and filled out a survey, and they sent me an extra bonus of the "I do" rhinestone stickers for the bottom of your shoes (which was included in the May box).
Below are pictures on the items:

You can purchase each of these items individually via the  links or at www.thebridebox.net

A few things that I am most excited for are:
  • The bath bombs, because even now they smell FANTASTIC!
  • The non-damaging hair ties, because there is 1 in my wedding colors, and another that is sparkly white! YAY!
The cookie mix was an awesome unexpected surprise, and while it may not be "bridal" what girl doesn't love cookies!

The lollipop is super cool, and I'm thinking of using it as a favor for some event, be it mine, or another friend that is getting married. I would have never thought of this without it being including in the box. According to the site you can customize them as well, with  over 1,000 flavor combos. (And chances are I'm looking for boozy ones).

The rose petals are really neat too, you can customize them by what you want to have written on them. These would be nice to use as an outer edge to an isle runner or scattered on the table at the reception.

The sparklers are sparklers, I am most excited to use them at the wedding for the slow shutter time whimsical, fairy tale looking pictures. :)

The "I do" stickers were a great  surprise. They can double as my "something blue". And since there is going to be a shoe change at some point in the evening I want to get/makes ones that say "I did" for the reception shoes.

9 Months to go

9 months until we are married!! We are in single digits now!

What has been done with vendor:
1. We have flowers
2. We have photographer
3. We are signing DJ in 2 weeks
4. Have gotten quotes and deciding on cocktail hour musicians
5. Talked and have options for transportation

We still need to set up a date and time to sit down with the officiant.
We are extremely close to finding my dream dress!!

Today I have a facial spa appointment that I won at the Brides for Breast Cancer event. Next week I am trying on dresses at 1 more boutique, and the following week I have, with my girls, a Mary Kay makeup day that I won via David's Bridal.

I made a picture book with our engagement pictures, it should be arriving in the mail next week.

We registered!!! Which was so much fun! Josh and I had such a blast and he was super excited to have the scanning gun.

Going forward for next month, I hope to have picked my dress. We need to offically book the ceremony venue, but there is still a lot of unknowns about it. We have another meeting with them on Monday to figure things out.

*NWR* Disney- Star Wars Weekend

*NWR*= Not Wedding Related

We went to Disney a few weekends ago for Star Wars weekend. Josh has been dreaming of this visit forever! We finally set it in motion and it was AWESOME!!!  I haven't been to MGM studios in 10 years, so a lot has changed and I was brave enough to go on the rides. There's not much more to say, so I will let the pictures do the talking.

The first picture of the day with the Storm Troopers

Josh was so excited to meet and take pictures with any and all characters

Had to wait 45 minutes for this- well worth it!

We made our own droids (too bad we already have our cake toppers)

This is Tower of Terror, shit got real on this one. Pure love: Josh laughing at me, while I am terrified

Sheer adrenaline, This went from 0-60 in like 2 seconds

Had to try some hats on!

We had so much FUN!!!

I have created a picture sharing site on Shutterfly where you can view and order prints of any photos during the engagement period and finally the wedding day!

It's hard to upload photos to the blog, because of size and quantity issues.

10 Months to go/ Wedding Wednesday

10 months until we are married!!!

What has been done:
  • Hired day of Event Planners
  • Save the Date cards picked out
  • Boutonnieres picked out
  • Engagement photo session is scheduled
  • Round 2 of trying on dresses (we are getting closer to what I want)
  • Booked Photographer
  • Groomsmen are chosen
  • Girls dresses have been selected and will be ordered soon

In case you have been living under a rock, you MUST visit Etsy it is an AWESOME site that helps the average-advanced craftsers. It's like going to a small boutique shops and finding all sorts of great hand made items! 2 of my items so far are from there. Also, I have never had a bad dealing with anyone of the shop owners. They are all so nice and willing to help!

So this is a very concise/short list of what should be done by now:

1. Officiant: We have one in mind, one of Josh's dad's family friends. We need to sit down with him and discuss what we want

2. DONE

3. Half way done, I have booked some vendors and haven't even looked into other. Will be getting this done by next update.
~~~
It is also Wedding Wednesday, as it is known to the blogging world (also known as Wordless Wednesday, for pictures, but we are sticking with wedding theme)
The Things We Would Blog, is a great blog in general, but her Wedding Wednesdays are the best!
So for this Wedding Wednesday lets talk shoes!
Why is it that (almost) every bride wears peep-toe shoes or strapy ones? I'm glad to start seeing the strapy ones fade out, but the peeps are still there. I personally do not like either. I will wear them if I have to, but it's not a go to. Heels in general are not a go to. I really like the way the classic pump looks, with maybe some added bling or wedding pizazz. Also platforms are in, which is a no go, because I'm not pulling a Kate and Tom, being taller than Josh, and with platform heels that happens.
These are AWESOME, no platform, has a little extra blig perfect for wedding day wear.
no link- found via Pintrest
These are equally as awesome, except for the platform. I love the bejeweled look and the ribbons that tie!
These are very simple with the little heel embellishment and low heels. Very pretty and classic
I saved the best for last! I LOVE THESE SHOES! I want them, I must have them! Sadly I can't :(
They are from a UK store and have since been replaced with new stock. My shoes have to live up to these.
*NWR* The Weekend
*NWR* = Not Wedding Related
This weekend was a lot of fun! However as the title explains it is not wedding related. Josh and I had signed up for a 5K obstacle race back in November. This past weekend was the day! It was called  Run for your Lives . It was a zombie infested 5K and obstacle course. It was A LOT of fun! I never thought I would enjoy this. We I should have trained more for this. I walked/speed walked a lot of it and ran through the zombie patches, when I had my flags. The obstacles were the most fun! I would do a 5K of just obstacles the whole way! We both were and still are sore for the untrained running, but we cant wait to do it again! We also have a few battle scars. As part of the course you had to crawl through a mud/sand pit with water....and rocks.... my knees are a little beat up, but its just part of the story. Josh had all 3 of his flags and was bobbing and weaving from the zombies hit a water spot and went down, he's got some scratches on his shoulder from that. Below are some pictures of us after the race.
You can tell how muddy and grimy it was by the way we look, but SMILES :)
We got cleaned up and a had a picture with the banner
They gave us beer when we crossed the finish line!
See the partial shirt I'm wearing in that last one? That is the next race we are going to prepare for. This Run for Your Lives was in Hialeah, Miami. Armageddon Ambush is what my shirt is promoting, and we are going to try for that one in Davie, the date is TBD.
Sunday was a great day as well. The weather was perfect!!! So we took advantage and took a small picnic to the park with the dog, kites, and Frisbee.
Look at those beautiful blue skies and the kite extraordinaire and helper Whiskey.
Josh had gotten us kites for Easter. Mine is the angry pig green on and Josh of course had Star Wars, Yoda.
Not that I am going to divulge into some wedding stuff, I will just say there is a lot of wedding things going on this week and those updates will be up later. :)
11 Months to go
I missed the 1-year mark post, and I was very upset that I did. So we are going to try and do this monthly.
11 Months until we are married!!!
What has been done:
  • booked the reception venue
  • have a date set
  • found our cake toppers
  • have a color scheme
  • had our engagement party
  • I picked my bridesmaids
  • tried on dresses
We have a few other small things in place or in mind that just need to be implemented. We have a Brides for Cancer event to go to this Friday, and Wedding Expo April 21.
Things are coming together!!! And I can not stress enough how much my girls have helped me!! I love each of them for their own special needs for me. :)
